Cocaine Drug Case: Not Guilty

Our criminal defense law firm recently won a case involving a long-haul truck driver who was one of the drivers of a truck that held 20 kilos of cocaine inside the trailer.

The State argued that since he was driving a truck with a large amount of drugs, he must have known they were there. However, Steven Hunter achieved victory by showing that the trailer was large and full of cardboard boxes, most of which did not contain drugs, that the other driver possessed the keys to the trailer at the time of the arrest, and that the other driver was the individual who owned the truck.

Since knowledge of possession of the drugs could not be established, the result was a not guilty.
